Main Street Has Six Holiday Dates This Year. Plan Around Them First.

By 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, more than 70 vendors will be set up at 8141 Lakewood Main Street for the Lakewood Ranch Main Street Market. It runs until 2 p.m. Two hours after the market closes, crews will start closing parts of N. Cattlemen Road at University Town Center. That evening brings a 50-foot tree lighting, Santa's Grand Arrival Parade, fireworks and a free concert. So one Saturday opens two holiday seasons a few miles apart, and their calendars work in very different ways.

UTC's program runs every night from Nov. 14 through Jan. 3. Lakewood Ranch Main Street, the town center closest to Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club, holds its holiday season on six specific dates. Once a Main Street date passes, it's over for the year. UTC's light show will be back the next night. That's why a good holiday calendar for residents of the club starts with Main Street's six dates.

The Six Dates on Main Street

Here is Main Street's full calendar for November and December as currently published by Lakewood Ranch.

  1. Friday, Nov. 6, 6 to 9 p.m. Music on Main hosts a Tribute to Heroes evening with Passerine, with proceeds going to Sarasota Southside Rotary Club.
  2. Saturday, Nov. 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Main Street Market is back at 8141 Lakewood Main Street. The listing says no registration is required.
  3. Friday, Dec. 4, 6 to 9 p.m. Music on Main brings FM Station FLA to 8100 Lakewood Main Street, with Suncoast Therapeutic Equine Partners as the beneficiary. Santa photos run during the same hours, and no registration is needed.
  4. Saturday, Dec. 12, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Main Street Market's second holiday-season date.
  5. Saturday, Dec. 19, 4 to 8 p.m. The first night of Christmas on Main. Rides and games are free from 4 to 6:30 p.m., Santa visits, and a candlelight service runs from 7 to 8 p.m.
  6. Sunday, Dec. 20, 4 to 8 p.m. The second night of Christmas on Main, with the same schedule.

The official listings don't show a separate Main Street tree lighting or holiday parade this year. These six evenings and mornings make up Main Street's whole season. The first one is Friday, Nov. 6.

On the two market Saturdays, you can also stop by Bread Bandits. According to the Lakewood Ranch Observer, the bakery opened its Main Street storefront at 8130 Lakewood Main St. on Aug. 1 and is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. It's on the same block as the market and opens two hours before the vendors do.

Nov. 14, Hour by Hour

On opening day, the two calendars line up almost back to back. The market closes about an hour before UTC's afternoon lineup starts, so you can catch both in one day with time to go home in between.

Time Where What
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 8141 Lakewood Main Street Main Street Market, 70-plus vendors
3 to 5 p.m. The Green at UTC Kids' Zone with games and crafts, presented by Grace Community Church
4 p.m. N. Cattlemen Road Parts of the road close to traffic
4:15 to 5:30 p.m. UTC main stage Pre-party music by Ashley Lux Band
6 p.m. UTC Nik Wallenda's Wonderland Circus helps light the 50-foot tree
6:30 p.m. N. Cattlemen Road Santa's Grand Arrival Parade
7:30 p.m. UTC Fireworks
8 p.m. UTC After-party concert

The 4 p.m. closure matters most for planning. UTC tells guests to arrive early and allow extra time to park. SRQ Daily reported that the after-party concert is free and that the headliner is a nationally known act to be announced. As of late October, UTC's parade page still listed the act as coming soon.

What Repeats at UTC

The rest of the UTC season is built from repeating pieces. The light shows run every night, and most of the rest come back every week, so you rarely have just one chance at any of them.

Feature When Cost
Light shows Nightly, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Nov. 14 to Jan. 3 Not listed
Carriage rides Thursday to Sunday, 6 to 10 p.m. $12 per passenger
Fireworks Every Saturday night Not listed
The Rink at UTC Nov. 18 to Jan. 3 $16 to $20 per skater, skate rental included
Holiday Movies Under the Stars Fridays and Saturdays, Nov. 20 to Jan. 2 Free
Festival of Trees Nightly 6:30 to 9 p.m., Dec. 4 to 17 Viewing listed without a price; trees go to silent auction

The Rink at UTC is a real outdoor ice rink next to Ford's Garage in the West District, presented by the Tampa Bay Lightning. It's open 4 to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends and school holidays, and a DJ plays every weekend. Holiday hours are shorter. Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve run 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Christmas Day 2 to 8 p.m., New Year's Eve 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and New Year's Day 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Festival of Trees is in its seventh year. Local charities from across Sarasota-Bradenton decorate more than 30 themed trees, and 100% of each tree's proceeds go to the charity that made it. The online silent auction closes Dec. 17.

Wonderland Circus sells seats for dated performances. Nik Wallenda's Home for the Holidays runs Nov. 21, 2026 through Jan. 2, 2027 at the Wallenda Center for Performing Arts, 191 University Town Center Drive. That's between the east side of the mall and I-75. Seats start at $20 for Mezzanine, $50 for Ringside and $70 for Box. Club Box and VIP Box prices are available on request.

Where the Two Calendars Overlap

Since UTC repeats, almost any night there can wait for another week. Three dates take more planning because a Main Street event lands on the same day as a one-time UTC event, and a fourth gives you a way around one of them.

Dec. 4. FM Station FLA and Santa photos on Main Street run 6 to 9 p.m. That same night, the Festival of Trees opens and the movie series shows Home Alone. The trees are on display through Dec. 17, so you'll have other nights to see them. Main Street's Dec. 4 evening happens only once.

Dec. 12. The market runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., which leaves the evening open for UTC. It's a Saturday, so there are fireworks, and the movie is Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the Jim Carrey version. Dec. 12 is the second date this season when one day can hold both calendars.

Dec. 19. Christmas on Main runs 4 to 8 p.m., with the candlelight service in the last hour. UTC is showing The Polar Express that night, and Saturday fireworks are on. The two evenings run during the same hours.

Dec. 20. This is the second night of Christmas on Main, on a Sunday. The movie series runs only on Fridays and Saturdays, so there's no movie at UTC that night, though the light shows and carriage rides still run. If Dec. 19 is crowded on your calendar, Sunday gives you the same Main Street program with fewer UTC events competing for the evening.

A few other nights stand out on UTC's own calendar. On Friday, Nov. 20, the rink holds a Jack Skellington and Sally theme night from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. That's the same night the movie series opens with The Nightmare Before Christmas. There's no movie on Dec. 25. The series ends with Frozen on Jan. 1 and Wicked: For Good on Jan. 2. On New Year's Eve, UTC holds a family-friendly countdown to fireworks at 9 p.m. Movies are on the grass lot in the West District, across Cattlemen Road from Ford's Garage, and concessions and character visits start at 6 p.m.

One road project won't affect any of these trips. The Lakewood Ranch Observer reported that construction on the roundabout where University Parkway meets Legacy Boulevard and Deer Drive will start in spring 2027.

A Season Built From Fixed Dates

On paper, UTC has the bigger season: seven weeks of lights, a 50-foot tree, a circus and an ice rink. Its calendar is also forgiving, since a missed Tuesday can be made up on Wednesday. Main Street has two markets, two Friday concerts and two nights of Christmas on Main, and none of them repeat. If you live at Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club, put Nov. 6, Nov. 14, Dec. 4, Dec. 12, Dec. 19 and Dec. 20 on the calendar first, then fill in UTC nights around them.
